Emily Trapani

Graduate Assistant

Emily is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in wind conducting with Dr. Kevin Sedatole at Michigan State University. In addition to working with the Spartan Marching Band, Emily assists with all aspects of the bands department at the MSU College of Music, including the Campus Band, Concert Band, Symphony Band, and Wind Symphony.

Emily has a decade of teaching experience as a high school band director in public and non-profit spaces in Oregon, Indiana, and Missouri. Prior to moving to East Lansing, Emily served as the Wind Ensemble director for the Kansas City based nonprofit, Harmony Project KC, an organization created to bring high quality music education experiences to children in communities with limited access to formal music education. She received her master's degrees in conducting & musicology at the University of Missouri- Kansas City, Conservatory with Professor Steven D. Davis.

   In 2023, Emily was awarded the Martha Ann Stark Leadership Award by the Women Band Directors International Association and has been a Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors Society member since 2015. Emily earned her bachelor's degree in music education from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina in 2015.
